In a quiet suburban neighborhood two women begin their weekly evening walk. But tonight something is different. A sudden cold front and a series of local robberies create a palpable tension between them. Recently widowed Jane (Molly Moroney of Hallmark's Front of the Class) appears a bit distant with her best friend Cass (Moira Wilson of Casey Jones). She eventually confides in her that part of the evening is "missing" -- that she doesn't remember anything before falling asleep just after the cold snap. All she recalls is experiencing a troubling recurring dream about her late husband, one in which she brutally bludgeons him with a hammer. As the two women walk the dark streets, long-kept secrets about Jane's loveless marriage are revealed. Could they have something to do with what happened when the cold crept in?

This newest release from Lampkin Lane Productions is a throwback to the more meditative, character-driven suspense films of the '60's. Shot in high definition video, it was filmed on location in a picturesque Dallas Texas neighborhood. Little post-production dubbing was utilized in order to maximize the real-life soundtrack of the residential neighborhood at night.

"When the Cold Crept In" to Screen at Texas Frightmare!

"When the Cold Crept In" has been selected to screen at the southwest's premier horror convention Texas Frightmare Weekend. "Cold," a suspenseful 18 minute short written and directed by Dallas filmmaker Bradley Steele Harding, recently won the audience award at the historic Texas Theater's popular "Show Your Shorts" program. It stars Molly Moroney (Hallmark's "The Front of the Class") and Moira Wilson as two friends whose evening walk through a suburban neighborhood takes a sinister turn when one of them makes a shocking confession. This creepy, adult horror film is a throwback to the more contemplative, character-driven suspense films of the '60's.

The wildly popular Texas Frightmare Weekend takes place April 29th, 30th and May 1st at the Sheraton Grand Hotel DFW Airport location. "Cold" will close the event as part of the shorts program at 4PM on Sunday. "We are very excited to be a part of Texas Frightmare," said Harding. "They've always been supportive of the independent film community in Texas and their stamp of approval is huge." The convention this year boasts a distinguished list of horror film heavyweights including independent film icon Roger Corman, "Phantasm" mastermind Don Coscarelli, original Freddy Krueger actor Robert Englund and writer/director Clive Barker. In addition to the impressive guest list, the film schedule features the Texas premier of Lucky McKee's controversial "The Woman," the world premiere of "Boggy Creek," and a midnight screening of the cult hit "The Human Centipede" (with director and star commentary). "The best part for me," said Harding, a self-confessed horror geek, "is that I get to say my short will be screening immediately following the Don Coscarelli Q&A."

"When the Cold Crept In" was part of the Texas Theater "Show Your Shorts" program on March 28th. Lots of great local filmmakers shared their work including the theater's own Eric Steele, whose "Topika" was one of the highlights. Much of the cast and crew came by to cheer the film on including stars Molly Moroney, Moira Wilson and Seth Nadelman. Of all the shorts presented, "Cold" ended up winning the audience award!
